Then we are going to get a hire car and drive the 6 hours to the coast. We wanted to go somewhere not too "resort-y" as we all like the local flavour more than anything else, plus it is usually a lot cheaper to be off the beaten track. We have chosen a gorgeous apartment in Balchik - this is a picture of Balchik.
One of the reasons we have chosen Balchik is that it is quite far to the North of the Black Sea Coast of Bulgaria. And this means, although we will probably have a few lazy beach days, we can take our hire car and go on little trips to places. Here are some we hope to visit - Nessebar in Bulgaria, Constanta in Romania and Bucharest in Romania.
After that we will drive back inland and spend 3 nights in the old town of Plovdiv, which was recommended to us by a friend as it is not very tourist-y and apparently there is a ton of stuff to photograph.
Really getting excited about it as I haven't had 2 full weeks away since I was 19 and backpacking, although we are not going til the beginning of September. Have you ever been to Bulgaria? Have you planned your summer holidays yet?

Thanks Amy - I hope we do too. Bit freaked out about the driving of course but I am sure we will manage!
